Asta works as a research designer in emerging technologies pertaining to Human Computer Interaction, Affective Computing, and Wearables. She first joined Microsoft Research in 1997 working in virtual reality as a world designer. In 2000, she went on to explore interactive television and rich narrative online experiences including the award winning WGBH/PBS documentary "Commanding Heights". A few years later, she left her research environment to ship products including MSN Messenger, Windows Live, and advanced Search concepts for Bing. She has since returned to Microsoft Research, where her paper twitter dress took “Best in Show” at the International Symposium of Wearable Computing in 2011. She would consider herself a “Retro-Futurist”, as she likes to look for clues from the past to inspire the future. She is a Parsons School of Design alumni.
