Exhibition Dates: May 24 - June 22, 2014 APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 13, 2014 11:59 pm CST Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) has designated 2014 the Year of the Salamander to bring awareness to conservation issues surrounding these amazing amphibians. Art.Science.Gallery. (Austin, TX) is pleased to announce our open call for a group exhibition of artworks inspired by salamanders! We are seeking original artworks about salamanders, including, but not limited to works that address the role of salamanders in the environment, including aesthetic, cultural, economic, educational and scientific aspects of their biology and natural history. Works may also explore datasets about salamander populations, species relationships or biogeography. This exhibition is intended to enhance public understanding of salamanders, their diversity, and the importance of science and conservation. This exhibition will fulfill Art.Science.Gallery.'s missions of supporting emerging and established artists, engaging our community in the sciences through the visual arts, and providing a space for artists and scientists to forge new and collaborative relationships. Special events during the exhibition will include a 4-week informal course entitled Herpetology 101: Salamanders, a free public lecture by Dr. Hayley Gillespie entitled Texas Salamander Extravaganza, and the 3 rd Meeting of the EuryceAlliance (May 30, 2014), a scientific working group dedicated to research and conservation of Texas Eurycea salamanders.
