This paper discusses art systems that integrate both image and sound as equal elements. This development in manipulation of audio and visual material can then be named the evolution of the "audiovisual discourse" in art and technology. Defferent artistic approaches are addressed, as well as the role of the computer as an audio and visual instrument.
