Tangible Weather Channel

Within tangible systems, physical sensations beyond the tactile are often unconsidered. Tangible Weather Channel is a sculptural apparatus that simulates the physicality of weather in remote locations.

Through constellations of light, water, air, sound and computer graphics, Tangible Weather Channel potentially evokes one’s emotional attachment to a certain place or a loved one.

Within tangible systems, physical sensations beyond the tactile are often unconsidered.  The cool breeze of an autumn day or the sun on your skin on the beach both give us sensations of space and presence.  Tangible Weather Channel is a sculptural apparatus that simulates the  physicality of weather in remote locations.  The table is ‘tuned’ to a location on earth wherein the current weather is materialized on the table though a light, closed circuit faucet, fan, and sound.  Together, the elements reflect the state of a far off land make a constellation of media not only connecting our surroundings but also extending our notions of what is multimedia.
