description

Raun K. Kaufman, is the first person to fully recover from autism. Diagnosed with severe autism as a boy, his parents developed The Son-Rise Program® which enabled him to emerge from autism without any trace of his former condition. Since then Kaufman has served for several years as the CEO of the Autism Treatment Center of America and has spent his life teaching families the same program that benefited him.

Brain + Love) is an exploration of Kaufman's fully recovered brain through brain scans derived from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), conducted in Thompson's Neurolinguistic Research Laboratory at Northwestern University. Neural activation patterns associated with the processing of sentences (blue), words (green), voices (red), and emotions (facial expressions) (magenta) are shown in the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Overlapping areas in temporal regions of both hemispheres are activated for sentence, word, and voice processing. Additional overlap in the frontal regions of the left hemisphere is noted for sentences and bilaterally for words. Processing of emotional facial expressions is associated with activation in the amygdala. Remarkably, all activation and overlapping areas shown in Kaufman's recovered brain are similar those of an unimpaired adult.
